Updating Statewide Stormwater Design Criteria
March 18, 2021 | 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time

Excess nutrients are the leading cause of impairment in Florida’s surface water bodies.  The 2020 Environmental Resource Management Act directs the FDEP and the Water Management Districts to update and improve stormwater design and operation regulations.  A 2007 study showed that the existing criteria were not adequate to protect receiving waters from stormwater runoff, but efforts to update the criteria were abandoned in 2010.  This webinar will review the background of Florida’s statewide stormwater rule, examine the initiatives undertaken in 2010, and review the objectives of and progress made on the current rulemaking effort.
