Position Title: Senior Environmental Specialist

Position Description: This position is supported by a Federal RESTORE Direct Component grant that broadly provides for the implementation of Manatee County's Coastal Watershed Program. Administrative duties will include grant management, watershed assessment project management, watershed protection project management, and participation in program audits or compliance inspections. Ability to work effectively with project engineering team(s) and satisfy RESTORE grant compliance and accountability requirements under 2 CFR 200, the Federal Grant rules. Prior experience with watershed management master planning projects for water quality protection and improvement highly desired. Technical skills and experience include familiarity with Florida water quality standards, the Impaired Waters Rule, Florida watershed assessment practices, Florida stormwater management regulations and practice including Low Impact Development (LID) and Green Infrastructure techniques. Knowledge and experience with quality control practices for environmental data and environmental monitoring programs. Ability to prepare and revise quality system documentation and participation in audits or compliance inspections. Skills interpreting and summarizing project findings using graphical, statistical and geographic information system software tools highly desired.

Position Requirements: Responsible for environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement related to area of assignment (air, soil, water, etc.). Collects and analyzes data. Writes technical reports. Takes appropriate action based on data analysis and observation. Prior experience with watershed management projects for water quality protection and improvement highly desired. Experience with quality control practices for environmental data and environmental monitoring programs desired. Desire familiarity with Florida's water quality standards, Impaired Waters, watershed assessment practices, stormwater management regulations, stormwater management practices, Low Impact Development techniques and Green Infrastructure techniques. Bachelor's degree in natural/physical sciences, environmental engineering, geography, or a related field. (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.) 3 or more years professional or technical experience related to area of assignment. Valid driver's license required with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Salary Information: $22.50 - $31.95 Hourly
