What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board?
I am familiar with the goals of the FSA Educational Foundation and its support of research, training, and scholarship on stormwater-related issues. In my work, I frequently use research results to update and improve how stormwater is characterized and how best management practices (BMPs) are estimated to reduce pollutant loading. As an end-user of stormwater research, I am enthusiastic about supporting graduate students who pursue applied research and projects. I am also interested in research efforts that help stormwater managers make effective decisions and make efficient use of limited resources.

What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry?
I have worked in both the public and private sector on stormwater management for the last 30 years. In my work in both sectors, I have supported many watershed plans that include stormwater management and projects, both in plan development and implementation. While I am based in St. Augustine, I am familiar with many watersheds around Florida, whether they be located in the Panhandle, the Keys, or many places in between. My work has included initiatives for both surface watersheds and springsheds; I have worked on nutrient impairments as well as bacteria problems. I have particular interest in using the best information we have available to make decisions in this field where uncertainty is high. I am also attentive to how policies, grants, and regulations translate on the ground, particularly for local government stormwater managers. I would like for the Foundation to support education and research that relates closely to on-the-ground stormwater management issues.

Why do you want this Board position?
I feel I can be helpful to the Educational Foundation in meeting its training and education goals.
