Principal Engineer

How long have you been a member of FSA (years)?
I have been a member for more than ten years.

Have you served FSA in the past?
Yes, I have been a member of the conference committee or membership committee for more than (10 yrs),  I have been on the board of directors for (4 yrs) and I have been the conference chair for the past (2 yrs).

What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board?
I am an experienced leader dedicated to the protection of Florida’s water resources. I am committed to advancing education, training, and information sharing in the field of water resources. My diverse experience in academia and consulting has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing our industry, enabling me to support initiatives most relevant to FSA members as they serve their communities. As a long-standing member of FSA, with several years of active participation and giving presentations, I would be honored to continue serving in this important role.

What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry?
During the first nine years of my career, I served as the lab manager for the University of Central Florida’s Stormwater Management Academy field research laboratory. My responsibilities included overseeing research focused on improving water quality and reducing stormwater runoff quantity. Key areas of interest include LID/GSI practices such as green roofs, pervious pavements, stormwater harvesting, chemical treatment, erosion and sediment control, and media filtration. I contributed early on to the development of Bold & Gold™ pollution control media mixes applicable to green roofs, bio-swales, inline filtration systems, side bank filters, and upflow filters. Additionally, I was an instructor for the FDOT state erosion and sediment control two-day course, assisting with field demonstrations and teaching modules on rolled erosion control products and sedimentation ponds. This course was designed to educate FDOT design engineers on effective erosion and sediment control techniques. Additionally, I am one of the primary authors of the BMPTRAINS Model, a water quality evaluation tool endorsed by FDEP and all Florida water management districts, I remain actively involved in the model and participate in the FSA BMP Trains working group that provides feedback to Dr. Wanielista regarding the model use.Since joining Geosyntec, I have participated in various projects involving watershed assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater quality enhancement designs, stormwater sampling (both grab and flow-weighted), optimization of non-structural BMPs, GIS data analysis, BMP evaluation, water quality modeling, microbial source tracking, development of water quality master plans, surface water hydrologic and nutrient budgeting, and support for TMDL/BMAP initiatives.

Why do you want this Board position?
I would like to put my experience and passion to work to help FSA continue to be the industry leader in all things stormwater and protecting the natural resources of the state I call home.
