Position Description: This is advanced level hydrological analysis and modeling work designing, implementing, and evaluating complex hydrological models and statistical analysis and performing critical review and evaluation of analysis techniques.

Job duties include:

  • Performs complex statistical analyses of hydrologic data to support minimum flows and levels (MFL) studies and hydrological modeling.

  • Performs surface water modeling such as HEC-HMS/RAS, SWMM, and HSPF and serves as a project lead for the assigned projects.

  • Assists in improving existing processes and developing new methodologies and writes computer programs and applies GIS techniques for hydrological data analysis and MFL assessments.

  • Participates in the peer review process by preparing study reports to be peer reviewed, responding to reviewers' comments by either written/oral means, and making the proper adjustments based on the reviewer's comments.

  • Participates in the production of technical reports summarizing the findings of scientific studies, including writing and editing technical reports and reviewing reports produced by colleagues.

  • Attends meetings and briefings with the public, colleagues, other agencies, or consultants interested in study results; also makes formal presentations at meetings.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, seven years of experience directly related to the field in which the position is assigned.

A master's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering can substitute for one year of the required experience.

A doctorate from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering can substitute for two years of the required experience.Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment: Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.

Periodic field visits: Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.

Licenses: Requires a valid Florida driver license or obtain within six months of employment.

Travel: Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.

Salary Information: Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.

Salary Range: $73,528.00 - $95,596.80
