June 1997 FASU lobbied this past Session for the inclusion of stormwater as a permitted use of DEPs state revolving loan fund. Legislation passed on the last day of the Session which allows up to 10% of the fund to be used for stormwater purposes. The program starts in July of 1998, the beginning of the next fiscal year for the state. Between now and then, the Department must adopt rules to implement the program. FASU has been assured by DEP that the association will be actively involved in the rule-making process. |
