Annual Conference A Success

FASU's 1996 Annual Conference drew over 100 people to the Orlando Marriott. Based on the evaluation forms submitted by the attendees, the meeting was a complete success.

Workshops covered a wide range of topics, including subjects such as stormwater management techniques, establishing stormwater utilities and rate policy, NPDES permits, and future directions in DEP and EPA programs. The Conference exhibit program featured presentations from top engineering and consulting firms on emerging technologies and new products. The Chairman of the Florida Environmental Regulation Commission, Dick Batchelor, was keynote speaker.

Dorian Valdes, Chief of the Water Management Division for Metro-Dade County, was thanked by the Board of Directors and membership for his service to the Association as its President for 1995-96. Vice-President Emery Swearingen presented Mr. Valdes with a plague in recognition of his efforts. Mr. Valdes was also instrumental in founding the organization in 1994.
